Smart Cars´ day in Prague 23. 10. 2024

On Wednesday, October 23, the Valeo development center in Prague opened to the public. We presented eleven demos to students from technical universities and to other tech enthusiasts.

The tour of this event included almost all the outdoor areas of the Prague R&D center and laboratories, presenting technologies ranging from common to less well-known ones. Visitors were able to see in practice the interior radar, the development of rain-light sensors, the mapping station, the door opening warning and the work of our researcher colleagues from valeo.ai. 

In the second part of the campus, mainly outdoor demos were presented. Visitors could see the cyber laboratory and the work of students on the delivery droid, and they were introduced to new assistance functions protecting pedestrians and cyclists in trucks on the new Tatra model and the VW Crafter van. They visited our Valeo bus, where they could see how the Scala laser sensor works and develops, or see ViL – Vehicle in the Loop. This is a demonstration of testing a real vehicle in a virtual environment. The test bench generates images from cameras and signals from ultrasonic sensors and sends them to the control unit for the parking system, while also reading back the car’s odometry. There was also an extensive demonstration of the Power division laboratory for testing electric compressors, HVAC and high-voltage heaters.
